Memorial City Mall

Memorial City Mall is a large enclosed mall at I-10 and Gessner Road in West Houston, anchored by Dillard’s, Macy’s, JCPenney and Target, with Cinemark Memorial City on site. Apple, ZARA, Sephora and UNIQLO are among the stores people come for; our Memorial City Mall store directory lists every current tenant.

The mall is in the middle of a redevelopment. The indoor ice rink stays open through December 14, 2026, before closing permanently, and owner MetroNational is demolishing part of the former Sears wing (details below). Event announcements appear on the Memorial City Mall Facebook page.

The mall is open seven days a week. Department stores, restaurants and the cinema can keep different hours from the mall itself.

Directions & Location

Memorial City Mall is on I-10 (Katy Freeway) at Gessner Road, just east of Beltway 8. From I-10 eastbound or westbound, exit at Gessner or Bunker Hill. From IAH, take Beltway 8 west and south to I-10, head east and exit at Gessner Road.

Parking

Parking is free in the surface lots and garages around the mall, and valet parking is available. Courtesy wheelchairs, mobility scooters and strollers are available on request. Because of the Sears-wing demolition, the entrance and parking layout on that side are being reworked into 2027; check the current mall map before you go.

Restaurants at and near Memorial City Mall

Inside the mall, the choice is mostly quick bites: The Cheesecake Factory is the main sit-down restaurant, with Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s and Lolli & Pops for snacks. The store directory lists every food stop under Dining & Food.

For more choice, the restaurants at Gateway Memorial City (947 Gessner Rd., across the street) and the open-air CITYCENTRE, a short drive north on Gessner, are the nearest options.

Memorial City Mall Movies

Cinemark Memorial City is inside the mall, and its showtimes run later than the stores close. Check the theater’s own schedule rather than the mall hours if you plan an evening movie.

More About Memorial City Mall

Ice rink closing (December 2026). The indoor ice rink remains open through December 14, 2026, then closes permanently to make way for the redevelopment and entrance renovations (Houston Public Media). A community campaign, Save Memorial Rink, is trying to keep it. Check session times on the rink’s own site before you go.

Owner MetroNational is demolishing roughly 216,000 square feet of interior mall space and about 190,000 square feet of outdoor area around the old Sears wing. In its place come a new ground-floor lobby with tenant space, a relocated mall entrance and a reworked parking layout, designed by Gensler at a reported cost of $8.8 million. Work was scheduled to start in May 2026, with the parking improvements due in January 2027 and the full project in April 2027 (The Real Deal).

Separately, the neighboring Memorial City Place office building at 9821 Katy Freeway began a roughly ten-month renovation in mid-January 2026, covering the skybridge, landscaping and the main entrances (MetroNational).

The stretch of I-10 around the mall is strong on home furnishing, with IKEA Houston a short drive east along the Katy Freeway.
