Tanger Outlets Houston is an open-air outlet center in Texas City, on I-45 about 35 minutes southeast of Houston and 20 minutes from Galveston. It opened in late 2012 and is laid out as a single-level outdoor village. Free parking surrounds the center, with lots at the five main entrances. Weekends and holidays get busy; arrive early in summer, as the center is outdoors.
Restaurants at the Mall
The food court and nearby counters cover quick meals: Charley’s Philly Steak, Auntie Anne’s / Cinnabon, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Sam’s Gyros and Burgers, Crepes and Waffles, Ricciardi’s Italian Ice and Starbucks Coffee. For a sit-down meal, chain restaurants line I-45 near the outlets, and Kemah Boardwalk is about 20 minutes north.

Bay Area Environment
The outlets sit between Houston and Galveston, so they combine well with a beach or Bay Area day trip. Galveston Island, with Moody Gardens and the Strand, is about 20 minutes south; Kemah Boardwalk and Space Center Houston are about 25 minutes north. For a classic enclosed mall nearby, Baybrook Mall in Friendswood is about 20 minutes up I-45.
